Question

I was recently fired from Sparkling Kleen Pools and Spas for asking about overtime. I had not been receiving any overtime compensation since the begining of my employment and when i asked i was given an explanation of how the employees take a larger hourly rate at the cost of no overtime. The next day i received my termination by a phone call. I feel i was singled out because of my race and my education. Most of the employees are here illegally and have no clue about such a law. I have been wondering what my options are if any. Thank you

An employer is required by the Fair Labor Standards Act to pay their employees a minimum of 1-1/2 times their base wage rate for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. There are certain exemptions from overtime pay for executive, administrative, professional, computer and outside sales employees. You can contact me at my office to discuss this further. It sounds like you may be eligible for overtime compensation.
