The statue of limitations before a a person can be charged with a criminal offense is technically six years. In order to prosecute someone for fraud, you must first file a police report detailing the incidents of the offense, and then the police will pass that information onto the local prosecutor to determine if there is probable cause to issue an arrest warrant.
