one of my friends spent the night and when he left my ipad and expensive watch was missing, but 3 other friends were there so they are witnesses, can i press charges against him even though he was allowed to spend the night? i already filed a police report. i know for sure it was him,i have had no contact with him and i am waiting for the investigators to call me back

It doesn't matter if you let someone in voluntarily, if they stole something you can report the stuff stolen and tell the police who you think took the stuff. However, from there it's up to the police and the DA's office to decide whether or not the state is going to be pressing charges against him based on whether they have enough evidence to convict him.
