Question

I ran into a fence on the way home last night. It was just outside my neighborhood about 1/4 mile away so I drove home to handle it the following day. The police came to my home a short time later asking about it. I didn't wish to involve the police so I told them I couldn't tell them about any accident. They were frustrated but they just gave me a driver information exchange paper. They didn't give me a citation or anything else. Should I be concerned about any additional criminal concerns? When I do call my insurance company to get my vehicle and the fence fixed will there be any issues?

If there was damage to the fence you could be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Leaving the scene of an accident is a 2nd degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail or 6 months probation and a $500 fine. You should definitely contact a criminal defense attorney in your area.
