Schools and school districts are routinely sued for a number of reasons for the neglect or failures of the school system and its teachers. These civil suits are often filed to help protect the rights and well being of the students within the particular school system. Teachers themselves may be protected via union contracts and agreements, but often times teachers to can be named in a civil suit or criminal proceeding and be liable for their actions as well.
