Typically once your are arrested and in the process of being interrogated (questioned), if you request an Attorney, then the questioning must cease. There is however no set timeline on when you will be allowed access to an attorney between the time period in which you are arrested and the point in which you are arraigned. In most cases when you are in custody, you will be allowed to make a phone call to an attorney, but even this is not guaranteed.
