I feel that this attorney may be good at DUI cases, I'm not sure. But one thing I am sure of is that he asked me "how's my moms credit card" knowing she is in the hospital and I'm dealing with her sickness and also the case in hand. Humm how bout him screaming at me on the phone when I asked him to please answer a question for me on a Friday at 3:45 pm and he said "it's my time now I had a long week due to another case I am tired" I was charged 12K for a case, he did drop 1000. He did give me an extension of a week in my payment. 12K is a lot of money for me and he knew that. I did pay. Then to continue the case was another 5K that I gave him 1500 and made arrangement to pay the balance at the end of month which was in 3 weeks. He did nothing on the case. Was busy on another case. Which he admitted. I was asked repeated "where is my check" even though we had an date for payment. I got yelled at. I fired him. He did refund my 1500. Thank you very much. And we got a better deal with the Public Defender that day in court. The Public Defender and DA both asked my why did this attorney let this case go so long? They also both informed me that because of Michael putting up a witness and asking questions is why the case went from bad to worse. I'm sure This attorney is a nice guy, but I wasn't looking for a friend I wanted an honest attorney to be upfront and handle this. I will never use him again nor recommend him. I think the craziest part in all of this is him asking me to do a review on Yelp and other sites because "all the attacks are from another attorney" this was before the case was over. •     Run from this Office. Epitome of a Sleaze Ball Lawyer. 1
This man is the epitome of a sleaze ball lawyer. He hard sold me and pressured me into paying an extremely high retainer. My case was cut and dry from the start. I bought a used car that turned out to be stolen and was arrested. It was EXTREMELY obvious and provable that I did not steal this car. Michael Kraut fed me lines at his consultation like "You have cancer and you don't have time to shop around for a doctor" and "Normally I charge $15,000 for this but I'm going to do it for 10 because you got screwed". I'm ashamed to say that my head was spinning from being arrested and spending a night in jail and I stupidly took the bait on his lame 'I was a former DA' sales pitch. And of course (like many others who’ve also posted online) once he had his money all our communication was short, condescending and rude. My advice is to go with ANY OTHER LAWYER IN TOWN. I'm sure your chances, your experience and your money will be better off. Needless to say I've been screwed over pretty bad from my whole situation. I lost the money on my car purchase, I lost the bail money but what was most upsetting in my ordeal was Michael Kraut's behavior and disregard for his profession. I turned to legal council in a time of need and he wound up taking me for more money then the person who sold me the stolen car on Craigslist. He misrepresented the scope of my case in his office, preyed on me, exploited my situation and took advantage of my fearful state of mind.   A part of me feels bad for him. His life's work seems to be defending drunk drivers and ripping honest good people off. I wouldn't want that for all the money in Los Angeles. In my opinion he is truly a disgusting awful person.
