There are many frequently asked questions that the New York State Liquor Authority website helps to answer regarding minimal requirements for licensure; procedural issues; fees; etc.

 

Minimal Requirements

 

-  The Applicants must be 21 years old and be US citizens or have permanent resident alien status.

 

-  Applicant cannot be a convicted felon

 

-  Police Officers with Arresting Powers are Ineligible for licensure

 

 

Procedural Issues

 

-  (518) 474-3114 to request an application by mail. Applications are to be mailed to New York State Liquor Authority, Church Street Station, P O Box 3817, New York, NY 10008-3817

 

- All on premises license applicants in the City of New York must notify the community board of their intent to file an application. Furthermore, all applicants for licenses for on premises consumption must also publish a notice in a newspaper designated by the County Clerk

 

-  All fees due must be submitted in their entirety as of August 1, 2002

 

- Temporary Permits may be available subject to population of the particular city

 

-  Restrictions on liquor license in New York State are subject to the following limitation; namely, applicants for a liquor store license, wine store license and on-premises license cannot be within 200 feet of a school, church, synagogue or other place of worship
